Pre-arrival PCR test is not required for all passengers arriving Maldives. However, All individual(s) except tourists and Maldivians are recommended to undertake PCR testing between 3-5 days after arrival. Travelers who have symptoms of COVID-19 may take an antigen test.

Has the Visa Process changed?
All tourists will be granted 30 days free visa on-arrival and visa can be extended for any long-stay holiday makers. For the on-arrival visa, you have to provide a confirmed hotel booking, sufficient funds for the intended period of stay, confirmed onward/return ticket. Additionally, electronic Traveller Health Declaration has to be submitted within 24 hours prior to the departure to Maldives.

What is the process for filling the Health Declaration Form?
Traveller Health Declaration (THD) must be filled in and submitted by all travellers travelling to and from Maldives, within 24 hours prior to their travel.

Will I have to do a COVID-19 test?
- To ensure the safety of all, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has made it a mandatory requirement for all tourists to present a Negative result for a nucleic acid test (PCR test) for Covid-19 on arrival effective 10th September 2020. The sample for the said test must be taken not more than 96 hours prior to the scheduled time of departure from the first port of embarkation en route to Maldives. However, please be informed that infants aged less than one-year-old are exempted from the aforementioned testing requirement. Please refer to our circular number 88-PS/CIR/2020/73.
- In addition, those who present COVID-19 like symptoms, such as a temperature above 38 degrees celsius, coughing, sneezing, will be tested for COVID-19 on arrival.
- If at any point in their stay a tourist stays at a tourist guesthouse, they are required to take a PCR test 72 hours prior to their scheduled departure from the Maldives. Do I have to do a COVID-19 test before I can leave the Maldives?
Yes, if at any point you have stayed in a tourist guesthouse during your stay, it is mandatory to take a PCR test 72 hours prior to your scheduled departure. However, if you do not stay in a tourist guesthouse, you are only required to test on departure if it is stated in the immigration requirements of the destination country or your airline. Testing can be arranged through your hotel representative.
